Join the Board of Trustees – Resolven Miners’ Welfare Charity
Resolven Miners’ Welfare is seeking new trustees to help shape the future of one of the Neath Valley’s most iconic community buildings.
Built by miners for the community, the Welfare has stood at the heart of Resolven for a century. Now, the charity is leading ambitious regeneration plans to restore this historic building and create a Centre for Arts, Heritage and Community Life, a place where local people can come together, creativity can flourish and future generations can be inspired.
Our long-term vision includes reopening the upstairs theatre and developing spaces where arts, heritage and performance can thrive, nurturing local talent and offering opportunities for learning, collaboration and expression.
We’re looking for proactive, committed people who share our vision and have time to dedicate to helping us move into this exciting new phase. Trustees play a key role in guiding our work, fundraising and heritage projects, and ensuring that this much-loved venue is safeguarded for future generations.
Please note: this role is with the charitable board responsible for the Welfare building and community regeneration projects, not with the separate trading company that operates the bar. Trustees act in a voluntary capacity and meet regularly throughout the year.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in:
- Fundraising and bid writing
- Heritage, arts, culture or community development
- Finance, governance or charity management
- Marketing, communications or volunteer engagement
- Health and safety, maintenance and coordinating building works
But don’t be put off if you don’t have this experience, feel free to apply if you are looking to develop your skill sin any of these areas. Commitment, dedication, time and sharing our vision are the most important factors.
We are on the lookout for individuals who can contribute at least two hours each week, or eight hours each month.
Here are some questions to consider when writing your email application:
• What makes you want to lend a hand?
• What skills do you have or would you like to develop?
• Are you able to commit to at least eight hours each month, which includes scheduling meetings and working both collaboratively and independently?
We have a limited number of openings, and we will be selecting the most suitable candidates based on their skills, dedication and shared goals. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. This role requires time and commitment, so please only apply if you are able to provide this.
If you care about community, heritage and positive change, and want to help shape a new chapter for the Welfare, we’d love to hear from you.
