We have some important and genuinely exciting news to share with our community at The Welf.

As we continue building momentum following the reopening of the venue in June 2025, we are delighted to announce that Judy Jones will be stepping into the role of Bar Manager, taking over the day-to-day reins behind the bar.

A familiar face at The Welf

Judy is from Resolven, right here in the heart of our community, and she already knows The Welf inside and out. Since reopening in June 2025, Judy has volunteered an incredible number of hours—supporting events, helping to keep things running smoothly, and showing the kind of commitment that makes community spaces like ours possible.

Because she’s been with us throughout this journey, Judy is not walking into this role cold. She understands the venue, the pace, the pressures, and—most importantly—the people who make The Welf what it is. We know she is well equipped to take on this responsibility and help take us forward.

A Message From Judy

I’m really excited to be stepping into the role of Bar Manager at The Welf. I’m looking forward to learning, growing and helping make the bar a place that staff, volunteers, and guests are proud to be part of.

A huge thank you to the volunteers for their incredible support since opening, and to the Trustees and Committee whose hard work and fundraising have helped bring jobs back to locals and rebuild the Resolven Community spirit.

Thank you to Lloyd Williams

At the same time, we want to take a moment to properly recognise Lloyd, our volunteer Bar Manager, who has devoted an enormous amount of time, energy, and care to keeping The Welf operating.

Quite simply, without Lloyd’s support, the building would have surely closed its doors again. He has been a constant presence through busy nights, long shifts, and the behind-the-scenes work that many people never see. His dedication has helped ensure the bar remained open, welcoming, and reliable—week after week.

We cannot thank Lloyd enough for everything he has done.

Lloyd isn’t going anywhere

While Lloyd is stepping back from the Bar Manager role, he will remain part of the limited company as a Director, which means you will absolutely still see his smiling face around the building in the future.

His continued involvement is important to us, and we’re grateful that his experience and support will remain part of The Welf’s ongoing journey.

Looking ahead

We are beyond excited to welcome Judy into this position. We have no doubt she will be a true asset to the future of The Welf, bringing fresh energy while building on the strong foundations already in place.
