As we enter a new year, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come in 2025.
This time last year we were closed, tangled in an insurance dispute, dealing with painful funding knock-backs and watching our beloved building deteriorate by the day. But now everything looks very different.
Thanks to unstoppable volunteers and loyal community support we have:
• Bounced back from closure, reopening in a fully volunteer-led capacity
• Welcomed loyal patrons back, filling The Welf with music laughter and life again
• Resolved a complex dispute with our former insurers
• Secured £10,000 from the Moondance Foundation for a new insurance policy
• Started the process of recruiting paid bar and cleaning roles as the business grows stronger
• Secured nearly £130,000 from the Welsh Government for a new roof, safeguarding our future
• Raised £6,000 through bar sales to go towards roof costs
This is a community success. Every volunteer, regular, supporter, cheerleader and behind-the-scenes hero who stepped up and shared the load has made this happen. Thank you.
